Section 8 Opportunities
Our Section 8 Department
serves approximately 1250 low and moderate income residents in Lowell
who currently are under lease with privately owned apartments. With
an increasing demand in the apartment rental market, our Section 8 Department
is looking for more landlords to participate in the program. We are
seeking available apartments for our Section 8 clients.
The
benefits of being a Section 8 Landlord:
- We send subsidy payments
directly to you on the first of the month
- Affordable rent for your
tenant because we pay approximately 70% of the total contract rent
- Our department
has a knowledgeable and friendly staff, many with more than 10 years
experience working with landlords and resolving tenant landlord disputes
- We will list
your apartment on our Section 8 Listing Sheet
In
October 2009, our Department adopted Payment Standards for the Voucher
Program (at 102% of the Fair Market Rents) established by HUD. Here
are examples of current allowable rents:
