Description:
The Bishop Markham Village Development is a 9 building elderly
development consisting of 399 units of conventional public housing
and a 20 unit congregate facility. The development has 27 handicapped
units. Each building has a tenant community room utilized by the
residents of the building and the complex has an accessible Community
Room that can accommodate larger groups for informational sessions
and health screenings. The development is located on the outer
perimeter of the downtown Lowell area and is within walking distance.
It is also located on a bus route. Residents have access to the
downtown Lowell services and activities including doctor, dentist
and lawyer offices, pharmacies, the Lowell Council on Aging, shopping
and food markets, a community health center, a college and university,
bus transportation, banks, barbers, hairdressers, and Lowell area
cultural and educational events. Two major hospitals are located
within a 1-2 mile circumference of the downtown. The development
has a card key entry system for security.

The LHA has a capable, courteous, and professional management
and maintenance staff who are always eager to provide superior
service to residents who live in our properties. Throughout our
various programs the LHA seeks to encourage self-sufficiency and
homeownership among the people we serve. While continuing to provide
a comfortable, clean and safe living environment throughout our

and programs to meet the ever changing needs of our residents.
