QSP 2022-10 Moving Services

There are 15 occupied studio apartments and 4 one-bedroom apartments receiving kitchen and bath renovations at 600 Lakeview Ave, Lowell, MA 01951. Studio apartments are approx. 600 sqft, One-bedrooms are less than 800 sqft. All units are single story with only two steps from grade to threshold.

All 19 residence will need to be temporarily relocated
into “hotel units” for construction and then moved back once construction is complete. The “hotel units” are vacant units within the same development. A map has been provided (attached) that shows the proximity of units and the proposed Groups of (3) three that require moving. We anticipate a total of 6 trips will be required but reserve the right to alter this plan as needed to support and accommodate Residents.

Residents occupying these units are elderly and/or disabled. The utmost respect and patience must be shown towards residents and their belongings. Residents are responsible for packing prior to scheduled moves. In addition to clothing, kitchen and bathroom supplies, some furniture and beds may be moved each way as needed by the residents.

LHA is providing television sets with internet and cable in the “hotel unit” to eliminate the need for Residents to bring their own. Some belongings may need to be temporarily stored in on-site PODS. There are only (2) known units that require this accommodation at this time. Due to the size and proximity of the units, one hour should be enough for most units.

Proposed construction dates are as follows, moves will need to be scheduled a day or two prior to the dates listed below. LHA will keep the awardee apprised of schedule changes as construction progresses and confirm dates two weeks prior:

  • Group A, 8/15 – 9/23: Schedule move for Friday 8/12 (approx. 3 hours)
  • Group B, 9/26 – 10/21: Group A back, Group B into Hotel Units (approx. 6 hours)
  • Group C, 10/24 – 11/18: Group B back, Group C into Hotel Units (approx. 6 hours)
  • Group D, 11/21 – 1/4: Group C back, Group D into Hotel Units (approx. 6 hours)
  • Group E, 1/9 through 2/3: Group D back, Group E into Hotel Units (approx. 6 hours)
  • Group F, 2/6 through 3/3: Move Group E back, No additional moves (approx. 3 hours)

This project is expected to last approximately nine months; moves should take place approximately once monthly until the project is complete. Units will be moved in clusters of (3) in subsequent 4-6-week cycles, depending on variables in the construction process. It is our intent to facilitate each phase of moves on the same day as noted in the provided schedule. LHA staff and/or relocation agents will be on hand during the move to assist
tenants and residents and help answer any questions. Every effort will be made by the LHA and its relocation agent to ensure that the residents are prepared to move on the scheduled date.

The moves should commence at approximately 8:00 a.m.
Most packing supplies will be provided by the LHA. However, please provide a pricing sheet in the event some additional boxes, tape, packing paper, shrink wrap etc. are required. Packing assistance by the moving company may be required.
